San Antonio girl

My best friend, Carol, is a Technical Sergeant in the United State Air Force Reserves. For the last thirteen months she has been stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.

Carol was supposed to return to Colorado for a six week training course earlier this year. Unfortunately, that trip was cancelled at the very last minute. I miss my friend, so I was terribly disappointed.

A couple weeks later, Carol called me up and said, "You're never going to believe this. Now the Air Force wants to send me to Texas."

"That's awesome!" I exclaimed.

"No, it's not," Carol said. "Who wants to spend the summer in Texas?"

"You do!" I exclaimed again. "I could visit you!"

"It will be one hundred degrees."

"Who cares? You'd get to see meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

She was not convinced, but in the end, it didn't matter. When the Air Force decides to send you somewhere, that's where you're going to go.

Four weeks ago, the Air Force sent Carol to San Antonio.

Today, I am traveling to San Antonio to spend the weekend with Carol. 

"just in case"

It probably will be one hundred degrees.

I don't care. It's been more than seven months since I've spent time with my best friend. It's going to be awesome!
