Beehive customs

I didn't bring my big camera to Beehive Live, but I absolutely wore out my cell phone's camera taking pictures of the wonderful little horses in the Custom Color division. Here are some of the lovelies that were on display, plus a video of the callback table and pictures of the champions. Enjoy!

Beehive Live

Today I got up bright and early, picked up Angelo and Heather and drove us to Castle Rock, Colorado for Beth McCarley's Behive Live Model Horse Show.

The show was held at CALF's Lowell Ranch, a turn of the century ranch...
that now serves as a working agricultural education center.
The space was small but not ridiculously so,
and featured a beehive in the entry...
and chicks in the showhall.
There was food.
Angelo Žunić and Heather Malone
There was a raffle.
And there were also about a million mini scale plastic horses!
This was a yellow card show so the class list was all about color,
collectibility...
and fun.
There were bees everywhere...
and the Championship prizes were SMB pins and bottles of artisan honey.
The Overall Champion was this gorgeous little Alborozo owned by Teresa Fedak. My pictures don't do him justice. His finishwork is stunning.
This was a really fun day spent with a great group of people.
Nancy Dement, Dana D'Ippolito, Teresa Buzzell, Beth McCarley and Teresa Fedak
Congratulations, Beth. That was a most outstanding debut as a show host. I can't wait to see what you do next!

When it rains

My beautiful Emma dog went in for what was supposed to be a routine dental cleaning yesterday.

Well, the vet thought it would be routine. I had my doubts, not because I know better, but because I know Emma better. Every dental cleaning she's ever had has turned up a myriad of issues. I was fully expecting this to be more of the same.
It's one of those times I wish I wasn't right.
She stayed at the hospital most of the day and was still a little groggy when I picked her up.
Poor sweet girl.
Thankfully, today she's back to her best self. I think those teeth must have been hurting her because she has been extra outgoing and happy.
And, of course, she's absolutely delighted with her current mush diet.
It's been a long, hard month in so many ways, but at least this one particular problem has resolved itself nicely. Good girl, Emma!
