Europe is filled with museums, and for the last three weeks, I've been ignoring them. This pains me because I really do like museums. Unfortunately, my time here is limited. I know can't do everything, and more than anything else, I want to be outside, experiencing the sights, smells and sounds of the cities I visit. The museums will have to wait until next time.
Well, most of them anyway. I did make an exception for the SchweineMuseum in Stuttgart. Touted as the World's Largest Pig Museum, this began as a private collection that eventually outgrew its owners home. The museum now boasts over fifty thousand pig objects. There's a little bit of everything, and as an avid collector of horse objects, I couldn't help drawing some interesting - and occasionally uncomfortable - parallels. Of course, I took a lot of pictures. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!
P.S. I looked and looked, but I didn't see Jasper the Market Hog anywhere!
My 3 yr old self who /loved/ pigs is delighted! I had plushie pigs as a kid, and Jasper was my first Breyer.
ReplyDeleteThese dino-pigs made me smile :D
ReplyDeletePigs seem to be a very popular animal. When I go to the indoor flea markets I see more pigs than horses!
