Give me an "S"

In honor of Karen Crossley, a Canadian hobbyist and active blogger who passed away in 2020. Lynn Isenbarger, Anne Field and I are finishing Karen's alphabetical tour of her collection. Today's letter is S.

Old Timer wasn't the only Breyer depicted in the unfinished, multipage mural I found in the wet box.

An oddly spotless Snow Leopard was there, too.
This #99 Breyer Appaloosa Performance Horse is one of the most cherished members of my childhood carpet herd. Here he is wearing the first halter I ever made way back in 1983.
I loved his sweet face, little rat tail and everything in between. Even though I did not have the right kind of camera, I was bound and determined to photo show him. Here's another eighties era photo. This one was taken in my friend, Sarah's backyard.
And again! This one is from 1989 and features a better halter, which was not made by me.
I shared these three photos in a post way back in December 2010. I finished the post with these words: That last picture isn't half bad, but I still think I can do better.  So here's my first hobby related New Year's resolution for 2011: I am going to get my camera fixed and take a brand new show photo of Snow Leopard!

I wish I could say I followed through on that resolution, but alas, I did not.

I also wish I could rectify that oversight right now, but sadly, my photo table was in the line of fire when the water heater blew. Both the fence and wall sustained fairly substantial damage.
It's on my to-do list, though. As I ponder the next stage of my hobby life, I think it's going to be a lot less competing and accumulating and a lot more small personal goals that celebrate my life long love affair with plastic horses.
I'm passing the baton back to Anne and Lynn for the letters "T" and "U." The end of the alphabet is in sight. I hope we've done Karen's series justice.

  3. Ugh. Another spammer. Please don't do this on people's blogs.

    1. I deleted it. I usually do that more promptly, but this week has been busy.
