Karen Crossley

Yesterday brought the sad news that longtime Canadian hobbyist, Karen Crossley had died.
Her name sounded familiar, but it wasn't until I read Lynn's post that I realized that Karen was "pawprint," the author of the Dust Ponies: Musings about the Model Horse Hobby blog.
Dust Ponies is one of my favorite blogs. It's well written, informative and personal. I've enjoyed every one of Karen's two hundred fifty three posts. This morning, as I mourned her loss, I reread some of her early entries.
This one gutted me.
I never met Karen, but I feel like I knew her through reading her blog. She's certainly someone I would have loved to spend time with, and I am so sad we will never have that opportunity.
Godspeed, Karen, and thank you for sharing your life and words with us.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear this. She will be missed. :(

  2. This was beautifully written. And now I am sad all over again.

  3. I found her blog though this one, both only about a month ago, both becoming fast favorites. :( I was going to visit it after Breymere.
Thank you, Karen, for sharing your hobby joy. Peace.
Thank you, Jennifer, for the news, so that others are not left wondering.

  4. I am a long time friend of Karen, Miss her every day... every time I get a new horse my first thought is still... gotta show Karen.
Many of her collection are now living here with me and still showing. I hope she knows. Verna McCausland
