Another Cleveland Bay

Yesterday's Cleveland Bay was a Breyer. Today it's the real deal! I saw this guy competing in a training level class at the Dressage in the Rockies show earlier today. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Cleveland Bay in the flesh and he was lighter than I'd imagined. I think I was expecting a life size version of the Trejoyd Journeyman model!

  1. I seriously doubt that is a purebred CB. He has the look of many of the part-bred CB's that I have known and owned. Did you happen to catch his registered name?

  2. Well, he's definitely lighter than most of them I've seen, but I have seen some sleaker bodies before, so that doesn't mean he's not pure CB. I should find my pics from Breyerfest, since they often have a CB troop there, and they are definitely light drafts as far as size and body type.

  3. I looked up the Dressage in the Rockies score sheet for this horse's name. He is a CB cross. Braymere if you want to really see some excellent CB's and crosses go on up to Loveland and visit Bey Breze farm. I used to ride there and I bought one of their mares. They would be happy to have you come visit and see what a purebred looks like in the flesh. -Same Anonymous 8)

  4. Wow, Anonymous, I am impressed with your thoroughness! I never thought to check score sheets. The Cleveland Bay cross was trotting into the ring as I was walking down the hill from the parking lot. I caught the words "Cleveland Bay," turned on my camera and snapped a couple quick pictures. I guess I should have listened a bit more closely (or arrived a few minutes earlier!).

    Thanks for the correction!
