Flashback Friday

Renowned artist and hobby historian, Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig recently came into possession of a stack of live show photos from the late 1980's and early 1990's. Sarah scanned the custom halter pictures and shared them on the vintage custom group on Facebook. They were a big hit.
There were other photos, too, including a whole slew of performance shots. Since performance is not Sarah's thing, she sent these to me, in hopes that I would share them here on my blog. Of course, I was delighted to oblige.
Most of these photos were taken in the late 1980's and early 1990's by Jenn Merriam of Canada. This particular group is the oldest and draws from multiple shows, including Shining Aspen 1988/9 and Linda Watson's Halter Daze.
A few of the pictures have handwritten notes on the back. This is Cathy von Matt's Shining Aspen show table.
Gina Marrow/Mannow was the owner of this lovely Azteca.
Stud Spider belonged to Beth Davis...
and the Stock Horse Stallion was part of Vicki Buckholz' show string.
Here's another pretty SHS. I really like his elegant vintage saddle.
There are also pictures of the actual performance classes, including Regalia,
Roping...
and English Trail.
I have no idea what's going on here, but it looks like fun.
And look: Hippocampus performance! Imagine the Takeshi possibilities!
Several horses appear in multiple photos, including Laura Pervier's Touchdown Pass,
VB's Victorian Steele...
and Abtuse.
There are also three separate shots of Laura Gilkey's jousting entry.
Last, but definitely not least, there's a group picture of some of the showers with their winning models.
Thank you so much, Sarah, for sending these my way. The next group of photos will cover the 1990 Shining Aspen show!
