It's taken three weeks, but my "weekend project" is finally done....
Or mostly done, anyway! I'm still picking at the finishwork and can't quite decide if I like the weathered stain look of the jump risers.
Still, it's done enough to be show-able...
Extreme Cowboy Trail here we come!

Nice! I really like the weathered finish - it gives it a nice rustic look. :)
ReplyDeleteit turned out great - and yea i like the finish too. nice work!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome! The finish work on the horns look impeccable
ReplyDeleteI just made a pair of weathered wood risers too :)
Ha ha! I bet yours are a lot smaller!

Looks awesome! And I love the togetherness of it all :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look all together, although I do have to say I'm not quite sure wether I like the weathered wood supports or not. I think it will turn out fabulos though! I only have one question, don't you think jennibray is jumping a little too high for the jump and a western event? I would be greatful if you reply.

She is most definitely over jumping, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Most of the horses showing in this class do overjump, and I have a whole file full of reference photos showing jumps similar to Jenni's.
DeleteIt's also worth mentioning, that the real horse jump that inspired this had the risers stacked on top of some poles. I'm not sure if I'm going to do that or not, but it's possible this jump will get a little taller.
:)
Thanks so much for replying! I actually like the weathered wood look now. I just think it ties the whole thing together. Jennibray is an awesome model and I think this setup will do just fine. :)
DeleteCongratulations on finishing (or nearly) something I never dreamed existed. And I've seen many jumps and driving obstacles. The weathered look is good.
ReplyDeleteLooks good! I like the weathered wood--makes it more rustic and western.
ReplyDeleteOh this looks fantastic! I definitely think the weathering adds to the rustic flavour of the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteOMG YOU ARE GOOD AT MAKING TACK. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR STUFF(LEATHER BITS ECT.) FROM?
