Excellence in Tack Making joined BreyerFest Best Customs Contest line-up as a one-time Theme class in 2023 and then as a regular division last year. Although, as a resident of Colorado, I am not allowed to participate, I love the boost this gives to the hobby's tack makers. Also, the inspiration.
Today's featured entry comes from Lisa Smalley, who writes: I have not had much time for extra things while completing my MBA courses, but at the last minute, I decided to utilize a momentary lapse of judgement that I could get something smaller finished in time for the BF25 Best Customs Contest deadline. My entry is a freehand carved Western bridle with braided romal reins. The reins feature fifty one authentic "rawhide" knots, some with two-tone interweaves.
No, I did not get much sleep last night.

This is a surprise to me -- and an extremely pleasant one!! Momentary lapse of judgement! Now that's funny, given that I know how hard such a piece is to make.
