There was a lot of fanfare when Olive arrived. My entire barn family, Seth and Piper were there to see Olive step off the trailer...
and become mine.True to form, she was fashionably late, having refused to get on the trailer without a little chemical persuasion. Oh, Olive! I sure do miss you.Sage is not Olive. On Monday, she loaded like a champ, rode quietly and arrived in Aurora precisely at 10:30.
Only Karen was there with me to greet her.Kevin opened the trailer, and we peeked inside. Even though we could barely see her, Karen said, "Oh, my god. She's gorgeous!" She's a good friend.Kevin retrieved her from inside the trailer and let her find her way out.
She was as calm, cool and collected as a baby mustang can be expected to be.
I led her across the property to her stall. She made herself right at home.
Before he left, Kevin gave me a small stack of paperwork, her BLM tag and a baby tooth, which she'd lost the day before.
The next couple hours were all about Sage exploring her new home. She went in her stall...
and made friends...
and enemies with the neighbors.I'd planned to give her the entire day, but she didn't need that. She was as calm, cool and collected as a baby mustang can be expected to be.
She was so good...
and so curious!Of course, we also took lots of pictures.
I absolutely love this one of Angelo, Sage and Tang.Since then, Sage has had three more walks/training sessions, and also, her first time in turnout.
I don't usually leave a halter on - especially not a rope one - but this was kind of a spur of the moment thing, and I wasn't sure I'd be able to catch her.
Fortunately, that was a non issue.
She was a little spicy, but I had no trouble catching her once she got it out of her system.
We're two days in, and this little girl is as calm, cool and collected as a baby mustang can be expected to be.

So wonderful she is with you and settling in well! Happy for you both! Also, she is VERY cute! What a cute lil bod she has...is that weird to say haha. Anyway, yay!
ReplyDeleteSeems like her name "Sage" took on a dual meaning for a wise and calm young baby mustang!
ReplyDeleteTo quote Kahvi from ElfQuest, "Differences make good sparks." Not that this one might be sparky, but I will add that you never know.
ReplyDeleteSage is a smart girl. Enjoying your journey as you share it. I forgot is she 3? If so it the perfect age to get started. She definitely had a good foundation at the rescue center.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful. And she has a kind eye
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Sage!
