Michelle's BCC entry

Today's featured BreyerFest Best Customs Contest entry comes from Michelle Mace, who proves - quite convincingly - that Glow Ups aren't just for horses. Thank you Michelle!

The Making of Michelle's Brahman

by Michelle Mace

Since a lot of others are doing it, I suppose I’ll jump in and share my BCC entry!  This is my first time entering, and obviously it’s in the Glow Up category.
I love Brahman cattle, and growing up around the rodeo I saw a lot of them. The vintage Breyer mold is great, but I decided he needed a modern update to reflect the type they have now.
I like the look of polled Brahmas, they look softer and kinder.  And he’s beefed up a bit more with many more wrinkles and baggy skin.
I separated his toes, and the ergots at the back of his fetlock joints. I also made his ears floppier and a touch longer.
I painted him my favorite color, black/silver, and gave him a nice long tail with a hair tuft.
Good luck to all the entrants!
Congratulations, Michelle. This was such a fun, unexpected choice for this division and so well executed! Good luck in Kentucky!

  1. So realistic! If Wishes Were Horses, a novel by Loretta Gage about veterinary school, speaks lovingly of Brahman cattle. I had never thought of them that way before I read it. This beauty is a strong reminder. Those wrinkles! I love that color, especially the stripes. Thylacine, anyone!?
