Every year, NaMoPaiMo reminds me that I love art.
I love looking at it.

I love making it.
I love watching other people make it.

I love the whole messy, frustrating, imperfect, glorious, human experience of art.

or this...
or this.In case you can not tell, these are all AI images.
They were made by a computer using work by actual human artists, who are neither credited or compensated for their efforts.
I hate it.Several years ago, I did share a guest post by Erin Corbett "celebrating" AI horses. At that time, they were really bad. No one would mistake them for being real. It was funny. It's not funny now. My Facebook feed is flooded with AI images.
They are much better than they used to be, and a lot of people seem to be completely unable to discern what is real and what is not.I get that some of these images are visually appealing, but if you love art and artists, please think twice before you share them. Find something made by a human and share that instead!

Thank you for this Sunday Soapbox! You're extremely right and it's a relief to see an artist I admire and respect not "hopping on the AI train". It's "trendy" right now, but ultimately theft and defeats the entire purpose of art.
ReplyDeleteAI is creepy AF.
ReplyDeleteThank you! As a photographer and artist I am so sick and tired of all the "handmade" animals and their artists pictures. One example: My grandfather carved this. No he didn't the horse has a fifth leg. Sick of it all, and sick of all the people praising these lazy people. If you want to make art, make it the right way.
