Last Thursday, the kids and I flew to California to visit my parents.
Since then, we've kept ourselves busy exploring attractions old...
and new.
In between the kid oriented destinations, we've also visited all the places where I used to ride.
My kids would probably not list this as their favorite part of the trip, but it's been pretty wonderful for me.
On the home front, I've spent a lot of time going through boxes of old artwork,
and family photos.
My mind is filled with ideas for future posts, but most of them will have to wait until I'm back in Colorado!

  1. You and the kids have so much fun - you are a great mom!

  2. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I collect old horse books, and those look wonderful! I wish I still had my copy of International Velvet. It must have disappeared in one of many garage sales or thrift store purges.

  3. Jennifer, would it be all right if I used your childhood art as a printable on the fridge in my Breyer barn tackroom? I've been wishing I had some of my own childhood art to go there, but alas it's long gone!

  4. YOU HAVE "OLD CHARLIE!!!!" I adored that book and think about it all the time (I don't know why, I just do). I don't think I have my copy but you have now inspired me to check. It will mean almost literally moving mountains, as that bookshelf has a ton of my husband's things piled up in front of it due to a basement flooding area. But I am determined! If Charlie is in there, I'm gonna find him! (And I'll see what other paperback Scholastic treasures I might have)

  5. Pretty sure "Midnight" and "The Blind Colt" were in my library, too... :-)

I know for a fact we did the same thing, scan those brochures for anything remotely equine and check 'em right off!

  6. Kellye--We really *do* have a lot of fun. They're such good ages (twelve and ten) this year--old enough to be fairly independent but young enough to still think all this family stuff is fun.

Allie--I would be honored to have my artwork hanging in your tackroom! Please send a picture!

Allie & RW--I love junior horse fiction, especially junior horse fiction from the 1970's. Most of these titles will be coming back to Colorado. It's been a very long time since I read either International Velvet or Old Charlie!
