I am trying very hard to downsize my collection. So much so, no new horses! has been my mantra for 2023. Still, I have been low-key wanting that Shire for decades. I debated for a moment, then clicked the comment button and told Lynn I wanted her.
Today, Lynn sent me a photo of the Shire sitting on her shelf. I was simultaneously elated and guilt-stricken.I said as much to Lynn, and she told me that if it would make me feel better, she'd be happy to trade her for play quality tack and props for her granddaughter, Mila.
Strangely, that made me feel a lot better.
I went down to the basement and started gathering. First on the list was my old Western Prancer, Candyman. Since he comes with a saddle and bridle, he's a perfect horse for a kid who wants to play with her models.
I didn't want him to be lonely, so I added a couple traveling companions. Then it was time for the stuff! There are several saddle blankets, four neck rosettes, a pair of ribbons, a trophy, two big buckets, two shovels, a wheelbarrow, a mailbox, a flower pot, a barn kitty, two halters made by another tackmaker and a rider doll.
I am so happy to get all of this out of my house and into a place where it will be appreciated. Thank you, Lynn, for liberating that beautiful Beswick on my behalf. I'm not going to feel guilty at all when she comes home!

This is a fabulous solution!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thats wonderful! AC
ReplyDeleteThat’s awesome!!! Do you want any of my horses?!? ;)
ReplyDeleteLynn Isenbarger Jennifer!! You are being so generous! I know that Pony Pal Mila will be so excited by all the goodies and that she and I will end up sitting down and playing with them together. I can't wait, and thank you so much for your kindness.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic haul for a horse crazy little girl. I know that when I was Mila's age, I would have been thrilled with all the horses, tack and props! This is a win-win all the way around!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I just got that Beswick Shire last year. I found it in an antique shop in Scotland and nerve-wracking-ly flew it back in my carry-on luggage. Quite an ordeal, but it made it in one piece. I certainly overpaid for it but I wanted a horse-shaped object from that trip.
