Rightsizing, part three

A long time ago in the mostly forgotten, pre-blog era of my tack making life, I traded a big pile of halters for a painted War Chant resin.

He was one of my first big resins, and I was delighted to have him, but oh, that was so many halters!
I still have WarLord, but the person - Kristie Strange - who got all those halters sold them all when she dropped out of the hobby. We lost touch for the better part of ten years, but reconnected a couple years ago on social media. She's started rebuilding her collection and told me that, more than anything else, she really wanted a Braymere halter.

Hmmmm. I haven't taken commissions in a long time and was reluctant to open that door even a little. On the other hand, if there's anyone who should have a Braymere halter in her collection, it's Kristie.

I asked her what color and who she wanted it to fit. She said it didn't matter. It just had to be a Braymere halter. I thought about that for a little bit and decided, since she's a pony person, it had to be a pony halter.

And also, it should come with a pony.

I went down to the basement and picked a tribute.
This cute little Cream of Tarter POA was one of my 1990's photo show performance horses.
I've owned her a long time, and while I'm quite fond of her, I don't actually need her anymore.
The perfect choice.
A made her a leather stable halter, packed up her and shipped her off before I could change my mind.
She arrived in Virginia last week.
Here she is in Kristie's hobby space.
I'm really happy with the way this worked out. Kristie has a brand new Braymere halter, Cream of Tartar has a new, appreciative home and I have a teeny bit more space.

  1. Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten about that trade! I wish I still had all of those halters! But I’m delighted to have a Braymere halter, and honored to stable your pony. ❤️
