Today we ride

Colorado is a vote by mail state. Registered voters automatically receive ballots several weeks prior to the election. Ballot drop boxes are plentiful, and just about everyone I know votes before election day. So today, instead of lining up at the polls, we went riding.

Mary Jo and Scarlett wore pearls in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Karen and Thunder resisted in blue.
and I also wore blue. Lucy did, too.
The ride was long and wonderful. All the horses were good and the conversation was, at turns, anxious and hopeful, panic stricken and jubilant.
After the ride, we drank to hope.
I have no idea what's going to happen tonight, but I know this: Friends and horses make everything better. Today we rode.

  1. I hear you.i hope this country chooses democracy over fascism. I have never felt so anxious about an election in my life and I'm in my 50s.
