Santana's halter & coyote cafe

At some point in their tack making careers, most model tack makers think about venturing into full scale tack. Few of us actually do it, however.

Rachel Fail is one of the exceptions.

Rachel recently added custom rope halters to her Etsy store offerings. Because she is awesome, she made one for Santana. Seth, James and I took it out to the barn last night to try it on. It was a perfect fit!
James asked if he could sit on Santana, and I said yes, even though he was wearing shorts and no helmet.
I love this picture!
Santana is the sweetest (and most tolerant) horse. It makes my heart happy seeing him in his new halter.
On the way home, James spotted a coyote with dinner in its mouth.
Seth stopped the minivan, and we backed up to get a better look.
We watched the coyote eat for a few minutes.
Although we weren't terribly close, it was obvious that we were making me nervous. Between bites, he'd glance nervously in our direction.
Eventually, he picked up his dinner and moved it a little further away.
We stayed just a couple moments longer, then left him to eat in peace.
This was a short but extremely satisfying barn visit. Thanks Rachel, Santana and mange tail coyote!

  1. I love your photos, sounds like a great family evening adventure!

  2. The poor coyote doesn't look like he'll make it through the winter :(

    1. He didn't look as bad in person, probably because he was pretty darn jubilant about having caught dinner. I was a little surprised to see how rough he looked when I got home and edited the photos.
