Millie--the rope is a simple four strand round braid. Susan Bensema Young has good directions on how to braid this way in her very excellent book the Guide to Making Model Horse Tack.
Shanti--the noseband is just a bit of polar fleece sewn over the leather. I had planned to go with red, but it turned out that green was all I had on hand.
I stumbled across your blog while looking for real life horse tack.
Your stuff is INCREDIBLE!! I cannot believe the amount of work and detail you put into it. If I still had the time/space/energy for models, I would definitely want some custom work. Keep it up!
I am sure your victim will be thrilled! I know I would be :D
