O Christmas Tree

Today we decorated our Christmas tree. As the boys were unpacking the decorations, I heard James say, "We sure do have a lot of horse ornaments."
And it's true! Apparently horse themed Christmas tree ornaments are another of my "accidental" collections. Here's a look at just a few of the ponies on this year's tree.

First up is a familiar Breyer ornament. I received this one as part of a Secret Santa gift exchange, but it looks like James is claiming it as his own!
I really like this little metal trotting horse. I think I may have bought him at a tack shop.
I'm not certain, but I think this glass horse was a gift from one of my mother's friends. I also think there used to be two of these. I wish I was better at remembering these things! This origins of this silver rocking horse have been lost to time. I have no idea where he came from.
My friend Cathy gave me this jumping horse more than a decade ago.
And this is my favorite of all--an old Hallmark rocking horse dated 1984.
Unrelated to Christmas ornaments but worth mentioning--I've restructured my Blog lists. If I accidentally left off one of your favorites, please let me know so I can add it back!

  1. I put up mulitple trees and my main tree is normally decorated in horse ornaments. Hallmark, Breyer, and gathered from many other places. Last year the horse tree was just too irrestible to my 3 year old granddaughter. When ever she was over she had a line up of "pretty ponies" on the coffee table. Fortunately I keep the breakable ornaments out of her reach.

  2. Your tree is an under achiever :D Our's is 9ft...and your boys would LOVE our ornaments... of course, your younger one is small enough to fit into one of my ornament Rubbermaids :D
