After our amazing beach ride, we took the horses back to Eldhestar and turned them out into the pasture. Some went straight to eating. Others laid down and rolled.
So cute, Tinna.
You would fit right in my suitcase. We put the tack and rain gear in our box, then headed into the cafeteria for tea, cake and horse quiz.
Once again, we were asked to rank the horses we'd ridden that day. As a rule, I hate picking favorites, and this was especially painful. I enjoyed both Tinna and Glóinn immensely and said as much. That wasn't allowable, however, so I, reluctantly, settled on Tinna. Glóinn had better gaits, but I felt her soul.
Over dinner - which was once again excellent - we discussed the day's ride, other vacation rides and our Icelandic bucket lists.
The beach ride had ticked most of my boxes, but I was still hoping to see the Northern Lights.
One thing led to another, and several hours later, Hanna and I found ourselves hiking up a dark hillside in hopes that maybe - just maybe - the sky would cooperate.
It didn't.
Somehow, that was okay.

The stars were bright.
The city lights were brighter. And for that one night at least, I was the kind of person who would go hiking in the middle of the night in Iceland.
I didn't know that was part of my Iceland bucket list, but boy, am I glad I was able to check that box, too!
