Karen was in charge of booking our trip to Iceland, but she was very clear that if there was anything I wanted to do beyond ride ponies at Eldhestar, it was up to me to plan it. Challenge accepted! I googled tourist attractions in Reykjavik and put together an itinerary. We started at Hallgrímskirkja, which was just a short walk from our hotel.
We rode an elevator to the top and took in the three hundred sixty degree city views.
Wonderful! Then we hoofed it to the two main shopping streets, Laugavegur...
and Skólavörõustígur.
We visited Harpa...
and toured the Phallological Museum.
I took this picture specifically for Erin Corbett.
We also sampled lots of local cuisine, including hamborgarars,
Icelandic hot dogs...
and tried the Icelandic version of our favorite adult beverage.
Cheers!
Of course, there were also multiple strolls to Sun Voyager, since it was so close to our hotel.
All in all, this was a very typical, first-time in Iceland tourist itinerary...I really wanted to go to a tack shop. I found two good candidates, neither of which were walkable. The taxi ride was a little spendy, but sometimes horse girls just have to horse.Next post is all about Lifland!
