Best ending

Today was our last day at Eldhestar. Like every other day, we got up early and put on our riding clothes. We look so much better without the giant, orange garbage man suits!

We checked out of the hotel, placed our things in the luggage room, ate breakfast and headed to the barn.
We expected rain, and in fact, it was raining.
We went to our box and put on the garbage suits. Then, Karin, our guide told us to take them off for the drive to the trailhead. Okay, whatever.
The mood in the truck was somber. No one was ready for the big adventure to be over.
Happily, everyone cheered up when we arrived and put our garbage suits on.
Karin had been keeping track of our favorite horses and tried to let us have a shot at each of them again. I rode Hreggur (previously known as Reykjer),
Vaskur...
and my actual favorite, Tinna. I did not get to ride my beach boy, Glóinn (Glowin), but since he was my second favorite, I included him in this selfie.
The ride was perfect.
And all that rain? It didn't happen. It was damp and misty all day, but there were only a few raindrops.
The ride ended with each of us getting to go twice around a "race track" in the gait of our choice. I rode with Hanna, and we tølted one time...
and galloped the other.
Then we took off the saddles and loaded everyone up to go home.
Goodbye, Vaskur!
It was a perfect ending to a perfect adventure. I am writing this from a hotel in Reykjavik. Tomorrow at this time, I will be on my way back to Colorado. I am happy, sad, exhausted and, above all, extremely thankful.
