Making it happen

Every year about this time, I take pictures of my half painted herd and say, "This will be the year!"
I don't have to do that this year because this year's herd is last year's herd
But it won't be next year's herd. The last few days have been exceedingly cold.
I've gone out to check Olive, but I haven't lingered. It's just too cold.
Since I didn't work yesterday, I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. Seth asked me what I was going to do with it, and I said, "I think I want to paint." Then - before I could talk myself out of it - I went downstairs and chose a victim.
I started this little guy way back in 2021. His body color was done but kind of dull, and his mane, tail and markings were just barely roughed in.
The first thing I did was add a layer of purple pastel to his darker areas to give him a little more pop. That worked surprisingly well.
I spent the rest of the day working on his whites.
It's still cold today, and also, snowy. This might be the one day this year when I'm home and don't make it to the barn.
The good news is, I have more time to paint!
Today's focus is the mane and tail.
I don't think I'll finish him today, but the end is definitely in sight. My goal is to wrap him up before the weekend. I don't know if I'll make it, but I do know this: He absolutely will not be part of next year's half-paint project pony photo.
