Friday favorites

Next month is all about painting models, so it's fitting that this week's Friday Favorites entry is one of the most outstanding painted models I have ever seen.

This fabulous, rain-soaked Cléo resin is sculpted and painted by French artist, Coralie Journoud of Mule Deer Studio.
Coralie describes Cléo as "little feral mare, with some fat, who doesn't belong to a particular breed."
This particular Cléo is a solid, mealy bay.
She is painted mainly in acrylics with a bit of pastels.
She has hair detailing all over her body, with matte varnish on the dry areas and a mix of satin and and glossy on the wet.
That sounds simple enough, but the result is pure magic.
This doesn't look like a plastic horse.
This looks like a real horse.
This looks like a real, wet horse.
Every rain drenched detail is rendered with sublime precision.
Cléo is perfection from one end...
to the other!
Congratulations, Coralie. Cléo is truly one of favorite models, not just this Friday but ever.
Coralie's Cléo is currently up for offers on Model Horse Sales Pages. She's out of my price range, but somebody needs to go get her!

  1. Technically she is a resin horse and not plastic - but totally agree on the wonderful paint work
