Which one would you take, part one

Another day, another fun Facebook challenge.

This one's premise is simple, if you could have one horse in this picture, which would you take? Most people did that with a photo of their shelves. I made a collage instead. It includes most - but not all - of my resin collection. No customs, no chinas, no original finish models of any sort.

No surprise, a lot of people went for the most valuable models first. My Rose Reiner by Nikki Button was the top choice for three people and honorable mention for a couple others.

Angela Waddington writes: Oooo, you have sooo many beautiful resins!! BUT!! The one I would want would be the lovely Rose Reiner. We raise cutting reining type horses and he would fit right in with my tiny butt growing stock horse collection plus the Rose Reiner is my ultimate grail!!!

Erin Corbett agrees: Boutonniere, because he's gorgeous and I miss my Rose Reiner! But I would also have Wahoo and Sushi tucked under each arm. I'm fast and broad and nobody can stop me from taking three!

Speaking of Wahoo... Dani Boiko writes: I would have to say your Wahoo resin would be my top steal horse. Not only do I love the mold for its personality and pose, but I also love the symbolism behind him. To me he represents the deep bond of friendship we can achieve in this hobby. He's an incredible piece all around.

Anne Veeneman–van der Weel agrees: Hoka Hey! I love everything about that horse and would cherish him forever.

Other people cared less about his story and more about his spots. Maren Jensen says: Your Wahoo, because my heart horse was an Appy.

Ruru Cold's explanation is even simpler: Definitely this one. Because... spots!

Several people also expressed an interest in my Carol William's Valor. Margaret Balch writes: Validator, because chestnuts are the best, and you can't beat a Carol Williams Sculpt painted by Carol Williams herself!

Kim Szkudlarek agrees: This guy! Chestnut thoroughbreds are my absolute favorite, and he’s the perfect shade.

Rebecca Jollymore makes it a three-peat: Your Valor painted by Carol Williams. I have a huge soft spot for Thoroughbreds and Valors painted by Carol. Also, he's the perfect chestnut color.

Liam Bray, my Uilleam, was another popular choice. Mary Vinyard says: Uilleam. He's a grail and I would love to show him in halter and performance.

Angelo Žunić writes: The Uilleam that you so RUDELY made tiny in the collage (and fixed in the current version, thank you very much). But it's because he's sculpted and painted by two hobby people I love. And I love my drafts.

Christine Jordan agrees: Ooooohhhh...definitely the Uilleam because my dumb self could have bought one blank and didn't and missed out.

Sarah Townsend, Andrea Brygidyr and Kristie Strange singled out another Purdy horse, Schutzengel, as their most wanted. Kristie says: I love her! But I’d change her name πŸ˜†

Arabians are always popular. Sofie Banister couldn't limit herself to just one. She writes: All the Arabs, because one can’t possibly just choose one Arab.

Tina DeCaussin was a little more specific. She says : All of the Arabians in bay, because all bay Arabians want to live with me. Of course, all Arabians are bay - some just on the inside, so all Arabians. I will take all the bay horses, Arabian or not. So many beautiful bays!

Other people wanted one specific bay Arabian. Rune was Marina Ama and Missy Shaw's first choice, and Christine Sutcliffe and Anne Veeneman–van der Weel's honorable mention. Anne explains: Rune is a close runner up. I'm always happy when he makes an appearance on the blog with his fairytale prince expression and glowing paint job. Normally he wouldn't be my type but there's just something about him that I can't resist.

Other popular Arabians included, Regal Revenue, who was first choice for Carra McClelland and Barb DiAnnibella...
Regal Revenue, Cooper sculpted by Maggie Bennett, customized by Jennifer Buxton and painted by Pat Hefty
and Khemecho, who was chosen by Amber Powell and Stephanie "GIVE ME🀣🀣🀣" Blaylock.

Another Arab I did not expect to see mentioned here, is Awesome Tribute, who was my 2020 NaMoPaiMo model. Thank you, Clarice Bone, for remembering him!

Last for today's post is Vigilante Justice, a Stacy Tumlinson Desperado resin I bought for a song because he had a little bit of damage. He was so cheap and a whole bunch of people wanted him. I just happened to be the fastest.

Erika Baird Xochimitl remembers this. She writes: Your Caldero is very *very* tempting, and if picking from them equally on a shelf, I'd probably go with him. But for this I might have to go with your Desperado. Whenever he shows up I love seeing his pictures, but I always think of him as 'the one that got away' because I remember seeing him for sale needing repairs on MH$P years ago, and passing him by for some reason or another at the time and wishing since then that I had sprung for him. That said, seeing him surface in your collection was a delight, because I knew we'd get to see more of him, probably in some cool setups.

There are more - so many more! - but this is enough for one post. I'll get to the rest tomorrow!

  3. Am I weird? 'Cause the little chonk of a bay tobiano in braids and a trace clip would be my heart pony. The polo pony is tempting too since I played in college but that cobbie pony hunter looks like the kinda horse I want to own in real life. AJG

  4. I'm not on FB and couldn't join in the challenge but that didn't matter. I didn't even have to look at the photos to know that my favorites in your herd over the years have been Raconteur and Rune.

    1. On more than one occasion I've said the only way Olive could be improved is with an Appaloosa blanket. Maybe next time.
