My Painting Party ponies

Today is the first day of International Model Horse Painting Party, and my house smells pleasantly like paint.

Unfortunately, it's the wrong kind of paint. Our basement project is unending.
I spent the morning working on the kind of event admin stuff I swore I wasn't going to do this year. Then Olive and I went on our longest trail ride to date.
This was Olive's first time riding under an overpass. She did great.
I came home and did a little more admin work. Then I decided it was time for me to find, dust off and photograph this year's painting projects.
The first is last year's NaMoPaiMo pony, Taco.
This little guy is a Pluto resin, sculpted by Vincent Lange and customized by me. He was this close to being done last year, but I broke his ear on the second to last day.
It's fixed now. There are a few things I want to improve, but it shouldn't be too difficult to get him across the finish line.
Auron was a side project for NaMoPaiMo 2021 and again in 2022.
His body color is essentially done.
The details are started but rough. Still, he's another that shouldn't be too hard to finish.
This little eohippus has been hanging out on my desk for years. Like Taco and Auron, she's mostly done.
Theoretically, I should be able to finish her this month.
Here's another long term project.
I started this Hornet way back in 2017. I don't know if he'll ever be finished, but maybe.
Speaking of long term projects... Here's Trifle!
This customized Wild Heather resin has been on my work table for the last two NaMoPaiMo's.
These are the first dapples I ever painted. They're not terrible, but I think I can make them better.
In 2019, I customized a Breyer Andalusian mare for the ICEE customizing challenge. I planned to have her painted before BreyerWest 2020.
Obviously, that didn't happen, but hope springs eternal. Maybe this is her year!
My last partly painted pony is this Maggie Jenner-Bennett Bill resin. I painted him during one of Heather Bullach's online painting classes.
Unfortunately, he has a broken leg, and I don't really love this shade of bay. He needs a lot of work.
Onto the non-equine projects! I have a basecoated Lisa Smalley goat...
and an almost-done Kylee Parks Mushu.
Here's the group minus Eohippus...
and again, this time without Paloma.
Realistically, I know there is no way I will finish all of these models this month. However, I am cautiously optimistic that one or two of them will make it across the finish line before February 28. Which ones will it be? Only time will tell.

  3. I'm in love with Auron already. Where did you get him? How much was he? Do you know where to get waste cast models? AC

  4. If you decide to prime over Bill, he would look so good as a dapple gray.
