Today is the second day of the International Model Horse Painting Party.

Once again, hobbyists across the globe are clearing their desks...

We are a community of procrastinators, so it's no surprise that a lot of the work is prepping.

So much prepping.

Then there are some people who haven't even made it to the prepping stage yet. They're still customizing...

or in Heather Puleo's case, they're still sculpting.

I mean it's the year of You do You, but there are only twenty six days left in this month, so good luck with that.

Of course, there are a few overachievers who are actually painting.

No matter what stage they're in, I really love seeing all these models come to life.

Let's keep it going, everyone. This is a short month, and we have so much painting to do!

  1. Does Jennifer Scott have any waste cast resins? I'd love to have any, no matter how damaged! Please respond, thank you! AC

    1. Or maybe a good place to get apoxie sculpt other than modellperdeversand, ebay, and amazon? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks! AC

    2. You can buy Apoxie directly from the manufacturer as well: https://avesstudio.com/shop/apoxie-sculpt/
If you only need a little to try out, then I recommend seller morezmore on eBay.
I've personally switched to Magic Sculpt. I just shop around online for the best price at the time. Good luck!

    3. Thanks Danielle! I'm going to save up! Spent my money on tack making supplies, whoops! Window shopped around the internet and also found some on Blick art, and since they have pan pastels, I will probably get it there. Also blick art is having a big sale that includes pan pastels. AC

    4. Wait, does magic sculpt work to fix waste cast resins? Could you tell me more about it? If so thank you so much!!🙂AC

    5. Magic Sculpt is very similar to Apoxie Sculpt, it works in the same way for the same applications. Most artists don't give away their waste casts resins (I've never seen any at least, as there is a cost to the materials and all of their effort involved). Sometimes they offer raw castings or seconds at a discounted price. You'd have to follow their artist pages or join their newsletters to learn when these are available. Cheers!

    6. Building on what Danielle has said, if artists do give away their waste castings, it's usually to someone they know is capable of fixing them. No one wants to see something they produced looking terrible on a show table, and most of the waste casts I've fixed have at least 20-40 hours in them. And I do know I'm doing.

    7. Oh. Thank you Jennifer and Danielle! Tomorrow morning I am going to contact an artist or two, but thanks for the heads-up! I would be offering to pay a bit, but I have a very small budget unfortunately. I definitely agree that artist should still be payed fore even the imperfected resins, but I was reading about roundapony, zephyrus and how how you fished them of of Jen Scott's waste cast bin, and I started thinking. thank you again, AC

    8. There are some really, really nice Breyer bodies that cost so much less and would be easier to work on. If you like Jenn's work, get a Hamilton!

    9. Ooh! I think I'll try that! I absolutely love Hamilton. Any guesses on where to shop? I've never seen any of the newer models at triple mountain model horses body box.🤔Thank you, I hadn't thought of that! AC
