Happies

My Facebook feed is filled with stories about Breyerfest.  People are making lists, planning itineraries, packing cars and driving interstates.  Everyone is giddy with excitement.  And who wouldn't be?  It's Breyerfest!

I have to admit, it makes me a little bit jealous.  

Fortunately, my in-box has been filled with lots of happy emails that help to fill the not-going-to-Breyerfest void.  If you're also spending this weekend at home, perhaps these pictures and stories will cheer you up, too!

First up is a lovely little Schleich pony harness made by Karin from Slovenia.

Karin has only been making tack for two months (!) and credits my blog (particularly the Pattern Making post) for helping her get started.  I'd love to share the glory, but it's obvious that Karin has a real talent for this.  Keep going, Karin!  You're doing great.

The next group of photos come from Elizabeth in Ohio.  Elizabeth is a 4H member who recently recently completed a project on the Model Horse Hobby.

Elizabeth created a tri-fold poster board that describes three segments of model horsedom--Creating (customs, resins, tack and props), Collecting (original finish and artist resin) and Showing (halter, performance and photo shows).  Lots of photos from the Braymere blog were used to illustrate each section.  How many do you recognize?

Elizabeth's project won an Excellent ribbon (highest honors) and was awarded the Best of Day Senior (14+) prize for Self Determined project.  Additionally, she was chosen to compete again at the State Fair on August 4th.  If you live in Ohio and happen to be going to the fair, be sure congratulate Elizabeth and thank her for being such a wonderful ambassador for the model horse hobby!

Thanks again to Karin and Elizabeth for sharing their stories.  I still wish I was heading to Lexington, but these little happies make staying home a lot more fun!
