Party girl

Every year for the last several years, my barn has a Halloween party.

And every year, it's more or less the same.
The arena is filled with scary obstacles...
for the horses and humans to tackle...
with varying degrees of success.
Although not mandatory, costumes are encouraged.
Fancy grooming, too!
Cute...
and chaotic dogs are welcome...
and the treets for everyone are plentiful.
We all love these parties.
No one wants them to change.
Except, of course, one big thing did change for me this year. Instead of Olive, I have Sage.
And let me tell you, barn parties with Sage are a whole new experience.
Sage is chill.
She doesn't care about wearing costumes. Within reason, I'm pretty sure, I could put anything on her.
She also doesn't care about tarps, balloons,
Bozo the clown,
mailboxes,
umbrellas...
or pool noodles.
She was unbothered by this walk-through, but disappointed the garland wasn't edible.
She really, really wanted it to be.
She did eat one of the apple slices from the bucket.
That was her first ever apple. It elicited a lot of smiles.
Overall, Sage aced this course.
There was only one obstacle she didn't complete on the first attempt, and even that wasn't a huge problem.
Good girl, Sage.
You're not Olive, and sometimes, that's actually a good thing!

  3. You should train her and show her in trail classes! I'll bet she would love the challenge!
