Round Three: The English Patient

The name of the third performance class at Candyland Live was The English Patient

Clearly, this was meant to be a catchall English performance event, but immediately, my mind started running with the word "patient".

When used as a noun, patient refers to a person receiving, or registered to receive, medical treatment. The same word used as an adjective describes an ability to accept or tolerate delays, problems or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.

"Hmmm," I thought. "Perhaps a patient English patient?"

Then I remembered exactly how impatient I felt when I was waiting for my broken collarbone to heal. My friend, Kristina, was also recovering from a horse related injury, and the two of us spent a lot of time at the barn, watching other people ride and wishing that was us.

Just like that, the Impatient English Patient was born.
Here's how it looked on the table.

There was a horse in this entry.
But really, the important stuff was on the other side of the wall.
Let me tell you, this girl can not wait to get out of that cast and back in the saddle!
The other entries were pretty much what you would expect for a catchall English class.

I think the stablemate belongs to Karin and the Troubadour is Anna's.

I didn't expect this entry to do well - the horse is naked! - and it did not. In fact, it placed last. I agreed with the judging, but also, no regrets. I really liked this one, and honestly, I would totally set it up again. Except... next time, hopefully, I would not forget the crutches!

  1. Once I grasped your concept (what a great idea!), there was a moment when I was looking for a wheelchair. Crutches would be perfect.

  2. But did you come in last… Or did you come in third?! Or perhaps there were other entries that you didn’t include photos of.

    1. There were three entries, so third place was also last place (and totally acceptable, I'd have judged it the same way)
