Round Eight: Josie and the Pussycats

There was performance class called Pink! at the first Candyland show in 2019.

At first, I had no idea what to do with that, but because I am friends with Tiffany Purdy, I have a lot of pink tack. I got it all, put it on the kitchen table and stared at until the answer came to me.

That's how my ridiculous, fourteen horse, one mule, one unicorn, twelve doll, four dog, one ATV, one manure cart, one raccoon, one tortoise and too-many-pink-bows-to count parade entry came into being.

This year's Candyland classlist included a class called Josie and the Pussycats.

At first, I wasn't sure what to do with it. I gathered up all my cats, put them in the photo booth and played with them until the answer came to me.

This was the answer.
With some graphic design help from Teresa Buzzell,
I created a well attended and Cat Ladies for Harris political rally.

There were twenty four dolls on this side of the fence...
and at least that many cats.
One cat, Aeh, was in the ring, because of course she was.
Olive was there, too, and to my great surprise dressing her turned out to be the hardest part of this entry.
As I was placing the doll's left foot into the stirrup of my beloved Evelyn Munday saddle, I felt a small pop. I looked down and saw a broken stirrup lying on the table.

"No big deal," I said to myself, as I grabbed my tub of sticky wax. "I'll tack that back together and fix it later."

Except try as I might, I could not get the sticky wax to hold.

I went back to my table and got some tacky glue. I held the stirrup between my fingers until the glue set. It felt solid, but once again, it didn't hold.

The next step was super glue. I hadn't brought any, but fortunately, Karin had come prepared. Again, I thought I had it fixed. Again, it broke as soon as it came into contact with my doll's boot.

At this point, I was feeling a little frantic. I dug out a giant blob of sticky wax and tried again. To my overwhelming relief it worked.

I placed Olive on the table, stood up all the dolls who had fallen over and moved a couple cats. Then I looked over at the crowd who had amassed around my table.

"It's good," I said. "Judge it quick before anything else falls apart!"
Except, lol, Anne couldn't judge it right away because there were too many people taking photos.
Sorry/not sorry.
There was only one other entry in the class. It was nice, but clearly, this was another win for Olive.
Eight down, two to go. I was tired, but also, I knew the worst of it was behind me. Compared to Josie and the Pussycats, my last two entries were a walk in the park.

  1. So clearly the Heir Apparent to the Pink Parade. This is where Jose went! What a wonderful idea; I envy you those flags. // Stirrups and doll feet just don't mix sometimes, do they. There might have been a size mismatch (bigfoot), or a poor join.
