As readers of this blog know, I really struggled with my entry for class nine, Halloween.
In keeping with long-standing Braymere tradition, I'd wanted to dress model Olive in a converted guinea pig costume. Sadly, her big, beautiful mane made that a no go. After several false starts, I eventually decided to make her a smaller, simpler version of real Olive's full-scale costume. It took so much longer than it should have, but I was quite pleased with the results.
But how to set it up? Most Halloween costume classes are strictly walk only. You might possibly see a trot, but a full out gallop? Not likely.I pondered that for a while, and then the answer came to me as if often does, by way of this blog.
I don't have an exact replica of Linda's very scary costume, but my Froggy centaur is close enough.
Real Olive was remarkably brave during her costume class, but she is a reactive horse. It wasn't hard to imagine a scenario where things went a different way.
And you know, if I can imagine it, I can build it.
Other entries in this class included Courtney's shark,
Anna's Troubador,
Karin's mule...
and most significantly, Karin's headless horseman, complete with dry ice fog.
I thought that one would win, but no. It was Olive.
In retrospect, I'm glad the guinea pig costume didn't work. This was a lot more work, but also, infinitely more satisfying. I wouldn't change a single thing.

I can’t even with the little taco dog! ❤️
