The candy plan, part three

Two and a half years ago, our hot water heater failed, sending more than fifty gallons of water into my hobby area in the basement.

I quickly threw everything that was dry - or at least dryish - into plastic tubs and took them upstairs. Some of the tubs went into my studio, others went into the garage and still others temporarily moved to a storage unit. It was a big chaotic mess.

It was also really, really depressing.

I lost so much of my good stuff. Even all this time later, I haven't had the heart to open up those tubs and see what's left.
Except now I have a show to prepare for
As much as I really don't want to, it's time to tackle those tubs.
It's not going well.
On the plus side, I did find my 2019 Candyland pads by Studio Maire
I got really frustrated trying to find big things like jumps and saddles, so I decided to look for little things... like cats.
There are cats everywhere.
Here's a big one.
And another.
The more I looked, the more I found.
Finally, the motherlode.
I took a moment to admire a few special members of the clowder. I got this one in Texas...
and this one in the Netherlands.
Of course, me being me, there's also a nice selection of kitty supplies.
While I'm not planning to field an entry with fifteen tacked up models this time, it's very possible every single one of these cats will find their way into class class eight, Josie and the Pussy Cats. Here's Heather's description: We need felines! Big, small, tame feral, big cats, house cats, we just want to see some puddy tat style in your entry.
I still need to find tack and props, but at least the cats are accounted for. And who knows? Maybe a few of them will find their find their way into some of my other entries.

  1. O my gosh Jennifer! Hahahaha! You almost made me spit my drink out with that last photo!!
I *know* this was probably unintentional (and with the political situation being what it is) did you *really* mean to show us that you were one of those CAT ladies???!!!
Hahahaha!! Noooo--- wait!! That can't apply to you!! You're *not* single!
(And I apologize to you! I wasn't trying to--nor did I mean to be offensive!! I'm just *teasing*!! If that comment was never made, under any other circumstances, I would just admire your mini cat collection as I have one too! Especially of cheetahs and siamese!! I *love* these 2!!)
Wish I had your cat accessories!
Can't wait to see how you set up your photos!!

  2. One more thing. Is that lying siamese an H-R?? Where did you get your cheetahs?? Most of mine are Schleich's or Mojo's (I think) I've not seen those 2 before.
Are the cats under the cheetah photo the ones that you order from that Japanese company?? Or were they blank 3D models that you had to paint yourself??(I'm only asking because there was a lady at Breyerfest that had a bunch of these in her room along with horses, dogs, cattle, etc. and I bought several of them!! Now--I'm looking for someone to paint them!)

    1. The Siamese is a china produced by Animal Artistry. The large cheetah came out of Jumanji playset that was sold through WalMart a few years ago. It also included a warthog, a lion and a bald eagle. The small cheetah is an OF resin. I've had it longer than I've written this blog. No idea who made it.

    2. And yes, the large, well sculpted cats are Japanese. None of these 3D printed, and only a couple are handpainted.

    1. I hope it works out. Depending on a lot of things I do not control, it's possible I might not even attend the show, and even if I do, it's also possible I won't have everything ready. My mom's situation is still really day to day, so I am preparing and hoping. That's it.

    2. Well, I hope that everything works out too. I hope that your mom's condition improves, or at least stays relatively stable.
