Barn cats update

I own a lot of tiny cats

but in real life, "my" cats belong to friends,
neighbors...
For the past three years, the significant barn cats have been our serial killer family of Dexter, Lizzie...
and Ted.
Dexter is still with us,
but sadly, Lizzie fell prey to a coyote last month.
Ted has mostly moved out.
We see him occasionally on our walks and rides, usually a long way from the stable.
You might think Dexter is a little lonely, but no. There's been a repopulation. Twelve scraggly, feral kitties who had been rescued from a hoarding situation were delivered to the stable about the same time Olive moved into the show barn after her surgery.
Every time I was in there, they were watching me from the rafters. I started calling them the Creepsters.
The indoor arena is attached to that barn. It wasn't long before they followed me in there to supervise Olive's first hand walks.
Always watching.
Never interacting.
After a month, Olive moved out of the show barn and back to her regular stall. The Creepsters followed suit.
There's been some attrition. At least two have died - probably coyotes - but there's still a gang of them watching us at all times.
Watching.
This one is my favorite.
Her name is Willow.
None of them are friendly, but Willow acts like she wants to be.
I hope she lasts long enough to make that transition.
I may not have a cat of my own, but between my little cats, Daniel and the barn kitties, I think I qualify at a honorary cat lady.
Meow.
