Olive's diorama entry

The Best Customs Contest isn't the only big artist competition at BreyerFest. There's also the Diorama Contest, which includes four different age sections. This year's theme is Driving the World Forward. Here's the class description as written on the BreyerFest page:

Driving Forward is more than just about driving horses (or even cars).  It’s about the innovations that drive us forward as a society.  From the invention of the wheel, the intrepid use of carts and carriages, to the advent of headlights on cars, and beyond, we are surrounded by inspired creations and boundless leaps forward in technology.

While Erin Corbett was busy updating her Longhorn Parade set, her daughter, Olive, decided to make a diorama.

Erin writes: Olive has never done the diorama contest before and I am so proud of her. When I asked her what she wanted to depict, and explained the theme to her about an innovation or invention that she thought made the world a better place or moved the world forward, her immediate choice was her dogs.
Italian greyhounds are - in my view - designer purebred dogs and are absolutely a man-made invention. These dogs would not survive in any natural climate, and are dependent on care from their owners and veterinarians.
This diorama depicts a fancy lady trying to take her dogs (that happen to look a lot like Ruth and Alice), to the vet.
It's a very rainy day, and the sidewalk is cracked and mossy with pooling water. Both dogs have decided they'd rather be outside in the rain than going in to the vets office.
The rainwater is also running in the street, pouring into storm drains next to the bike lane. The windows in the high-rise is behind the vets office are color-coded on purpose. The blue windows indicate people who aren't home, and all the left side blue windows are people who are friends with each other and they have all taken a group trip to Costco. Olive is specific in her vision.
She did all of this herself, she picked out the sculpy colors, sculpted and painted the dogs.
She made the horse's outfit and painted the horse, and came up with and painted the whole concept for the base and background of the diorama as well as the design of both.
The only things I did was supply the materials, open the glue and bake the clay and open the glue. Everything else was done by her.
Congratulations, Olive, on a job well done. You are the kind of kid who will definitely move the world - and this hobby! - forward.
