Yesterday I shared photos of a BreyerFest Best Customs Contest entry that was years in the making. Today, we're looking at one from the other end of the spectrum.
This is Roly Poly, Levi Kroll's entry in the Most Extreme division. He began as a Breyer Classic Quarter Horse Stallion, and is a small classic scale.
Levi started with a "mostly finished" custom, and in six days redid nearly everything that was "mostly done" plus painted and haired him.
Here's the story as it unfolded on Levi's Facebook page: I have been so busy, but Breyerfest is FAST approaching. I've been doing the low key thing this year, while I continue to work on mental health stuff (making progress!). I did not get into a functional groove until the beginning of June. That only left me with about a week to get a Best Customs Contest entry done and submitted. That's not much time, so I started with a body out of my stash that had "most of the work done "
May 31: The face I'm making as my laptop overheats and freezes up for the second day in a row. I didn't even get a chance to move my refs. 😜 WHO NEEDS REFERENCES RIGHT?!?!
June 1: Well, he's in more pieces than he was when I restarted so that's something.
June 3: Started over on his head. One leg might be coming off to reset.
Back and forth, add some, dremel some off, add more, tweak, repeat. He's getting there.
Progress isn't linear in healing or art.
June 6: This is where I'm starting today and I have to get all of the sculpting done today so I can start paint tomorrow.
Back in one piece at least.June 7: Second coat of primer. Still has a few spots that have to get fixed. He looks like my horse, Nugget, in Red Dead that kept losing its hair when it was stressed
June 8: #NailedIt

So cute!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the statement “ Progress isn't linear in healing or art.” There is so much power in that statement.
ReplyDeleteI love that, too.
