Colorado is a mail ballot/early voting state. Every registered voter automatically receives a ballot in the mail. These ballots can be placed in any of the drop boxes located throughout the state. I use the ballot box located in front of the now defunct Beck Recreation Center in Aurora, which is just a stone's throw from the barn.
That was really fun.Afterwards, I said, "Next year we ride!"
Well, that didn't happen.
By the time the next election rolled around, I had a new horse. A new, unbroke baby horse.
This year, she's rideable, but not quite ride-to-the-ballot-box rideable. Also, she's currently a little broken. Despite my best efforts - eight fly masks! - Sage, has developed a summer sore in her left eye.
Girl.
This requires twice daily applications of two different medicines.
Today was supposed to be all about show prep and packing, but instead, I am doing everything but that, including voting. I filled out my ballot and took it - and Piper - with me to the barn for Sage's second eye treatment. Once that had been attended to, Piper and I walked over to Beck.Piper has never voted before, but she understood the mission.
"This is where it goes, Mom."
"Right here."
"Good job, Mom!"
Voting with Piper was almost as much fun as voting with Olive.
Next year, it's Sage's turn, and - maybe - we'll ride!
