The Dog and Pony Show

On Sunday, my friend, Karin Hullatti, hosted her first live show at Rocky Mountain Dog Training in Broomfield, Colorado. Aptly named the Dog and Pony Show, this was a small but mighty event and definitely a fantastic success. I showed a whole crew of horses, donkey, mules and dogs in the Ridiculous Performance, Fun and Medallion divisions. It was a great time, but I am so tired.

I am so, so, so tired.

So instead of sharing my own pictures and stories, I'm borrowing Nancy Kindraka's show report. This was originally posted on Facebook and is shared here with permission. Thank you, Nancy!

It's show day! I'm so glad I could be here to support my best friend.

There were seventeen of us showing.

It was a nice, small fun show.

Here's my table. I managed to bring one traditional, two medallions, and roughly forty stablemates and other items to show. All in my carry on luggage!

All the show rings had a mascot. And look at all those lovely hand-cut flats!

First class, first placing! This was the "Coolest Horse in Your Collection" class, which was part of the Fun division. I brought one traditional model to the show just for this class. Strictly speaking, the coolest model I own is a Big Ben, but space was at a premium in my suitcase so I brought the smaller Coal instead. And I do love my Coal!

This is my entry for the "Work in Progress" class. I started this ages ago. I really should finish it!

"Is it Cake?" was  the most competitive class in the Fun divisons and perhaps the entire show. This was my entry. I was (am) so proud of this. Those are all the Fruitcake Fillies and the BreyerFest Birthday Cake in a cupcake cloche. I took so many measurements to make sure they'd all fit! My "cake" took second, and I was happy with that.

The performance classes were so fun to see. This was one of Jennifer's entries for "It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time." This was the division champ.

Alexey's entry for the "Donkey Hotee" class. The donkeys are attacking the windmill. I loved it and so did Karin! Overall Performance Reserve Champion!

Another "Donkey Hotee" entry, by Jennifer. The raccoon just sends me.

Jennifer's "Meme me" class entry. Tears were shed. 💙

I showed a handful of models in the breed classes and went all in on the deco classes.

A first for Spook!

Both Zephyrs placed!

These two were my top performers: a section reserve and a section champ. No overall prizes, but I was ecstatic to come home with one of each of the (hand painted!) horseshoes.

I was thrilled to hang out with the Colorado folks, including Alexey and Jennifer,

Fabian,

and Heather.

Such a fun day. Such a fun show!

Thank you, Nancy! That was perfect summary of the day. Thank you, also to Karin who is already brainstorming ideas for next year's show.

And now, I'm going to take a nap!
