Early this morning, under the watchful eyes of her forty year old friend, Run Runner, first-time mama, Indigo, lay down and delivered a beautiful black foal.
By the time the humans arrived, he was doing all the things a new baby should do: standing,
walking...and nursing.
He is absolutely adorable.
He is absolutely perfect.
Mama and baby are living in a medium sized paddock next to the main mare field.
No surprise, all the mares were lined up to greet the new arrival.
All of them...except one!
Heh.
Good job, Indigo, and welcome to the world, little one. I'm sure Sage will be happy to make your acquaintance, eventually, after all the food is gone.

Sage has her priorities after all. Food trumps new babies.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sage was the very first saying hello and having her breakfast afterwards! 😊
ReplyDeleteTeenagers have to eat. Also, when I was quite young I behaved badly towards my little brother.
ReplyDeleteIs Indigo a Dale's Pony?? Or a Fell Pony?? She definitely doesn't look like an Arabian! And in that 3rd photo shot, she looks like a miniature Friesian!! Of course, the foal is just adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAs for Sage---wellllll--one has to have their priorities, right?? Being a young 'un herself, maybe she's doing an imitation of "Scar"(from the "Lion King") and doesn't know that she's supposed to go over and say "hello"!! Hah!!
I guess size doesn't always translate in photos. She's a nice, big Friesian.
