Last month, I send a lock of Sage's hair to Texas A&M University for an ancestral DNA analysis. The results are due any day now.
According to the Bureau of Land Management, most of the horses from the Little Colorado HMA are a mix of North American breeds, especially North American gaited breeds. Multiple google searches have uncovered DNA profiles for just a handful of Little Colorado horses. Most of those include Standardbred.I personally do not think Sage looks like a Standardbred, but I will not be shocked if that's what the lab uncovers.
I am also hoping for/semi-expecting Morgan.
As for the third... I hope that's something weird and amazing, kind of like Sage herself.
For reference, when I did this with Olive, her results were Columbian Paso Fino, Morgan and Galiceño.
I'll let you know when I know, but until then, I am entertaining guesses. If anyone gets it right, I'll be sure to send them a little prize.

In the portrait photo she looks to me like a Morgan 🥰!
ReplyDeleteMorgan and saddlebred. May be something more. But that’s my guess. Can’t wait to find out
