My mom is a patient at the Sherman Oaks Hospital in Sherman Oaks, California. That's a long way - in terms of traffic more so than miles - from our Altadena home. To make matters worse, the ward she's staying in has limited visiting hours, just 6 to 8 pm during the week.
That drive was killing my sister and I.
To make things easier, we decided to find an attraction we were both interested in near or at least near-ish to Sherman Oaks. That way we could make one of the drives in daylight and also have a fun sister outing.
The La Brea Tar Pits Museum fit the bill beautifully. We bought our tickets, and headed out. After a long and still unpleasant drive, we arrived at our destination. Before we went inside, we spent a few minutes looking at the tar pits...
and their iconic, forever doomed woolly mammoth family.
My through-the-fence cell phone pictures don't do it justice. Here's a much better photo I found online.
The first half hour of our visit was completely normal.
We wandered through the halls, taking pictures of the bones and interacting with the exhibits.Even this one.Especially this one!Everything was normal.
Then it was not.

Oh that looks like a super neat museum! Glad you got some good time in before things went wild.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great museum, and I really do want to go back, but maybe not to the theater section.
