Santa couldn't make it this time, so Karen brought her sequined Tina Turner Christmas tree.
So sparkly! Also, so tippy. To combat this, we originally set up on the level surface of the bike path. Then Sage and Doodle showed us why this was a bad idea.Doodle says, "No posing, just eating."
We reset on the gravel path.
After that, things went a lot more smoothly.
At least for most of us.
Ingrid and her Arabian mare, Athena, passed by on their way out to the trail, and Athena was very much not okay with the sparkly sequin tree.Another set of passerbyers, Jennifer and Pippin, had the opposite reaction.
Without further ado, here is the full roster of participants in this year's second Christmas photo shoot at the barn: Breezy and Giselle,
Claire and Doodle,Jet and Heather,
Kaffi and Karen,
Grizz, Nacho and Linda,
Karen and Luna,
Pebble and Ari,
Rhayna and Laura,
Sage and Jennifer
Stingray and Allie,
Taz and Allie,
Tazz and Heather...and Teddy and Heather.
Just like last year, the entire proceedings were overseen by a pair of bald eagles perched on a nearby power pole. After we were done, I hiked out to their location to get a better look.
They posed briefly, then flew away.
I have been taking Christmas photos at the barn for thirteen years now. It's a day filled with friends, horses, costumes and eagles and is one of my favorite holiday traditions. Here's looking forward to thirteen more years!

Great pictures! Also, I love your boots!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love them, too!
DeleteI gotta find a way to say these things more gently. passersby it is. // I love seeing all the horse colors! And the eagles! Great shoot.
ReplyDeleteOr just find a way to not say things that are uncalled for? Enjoy the horses and save us the English lesson.
DeleteAgreed! There’s no need for grammar corrections. It’s just rude!!!
DeleteThese were great and hilarious! Could be a fun project to turn some into model horse photos as well? I could maybe try, at least.
