Speaking of work, we did get the holiday Breyers this year, but most of them sold before I had a chance to look them over. All that's left now are a few ornaments and activity kits.
Earlier in the week, however, we still had at least one Twelve Days of Breyer Advent Calendar. I know this because I found it in the trash.
"Why are we throwing away Breyers?" I asked the empty room indignantly. No one answered, so I fished the box out of the can. I was relieved to discover it was only the box and no actual horses.I found those - what was left of them - next to the cash register.
"What's up with these?" I asked again.
My coworker shrugged. "I don't know," she said. "Tracy's been giving them out to anyone who wants them."
Since they were there, I took a moment to inspect each one carefully. They were surprisingly pleasing with really nice finishwork for the scale.
I especially liked the Yellow Mount, a model I always wanted but never actually owned.
He was still there at the end of the shift, so I decided to give him to someone who wanted him.
That's probably not what Tracy had in mind, but this has been a hard month at the end of a hard year. I think I've earned my Christmas Breyer!

Of course you deserve him. I've often wondered how you balance your hobby & job. // This post caused me to go to IDYB's Mini Whinnies page for the 1st time ever. Although the last thing my horse-image-saturated brain needs is a lot more data, I am proud to report I have some of the Liddies.
ReplyDeleteThe little yellow mount was my favorite of the calendar too. He had a cute little hang tag that came with him too. Good choice and yes you needed him.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming of the two appaloosa of this set... but well... no chance I'll found this in EU. You've been right to gift this to yourself ;)
