A week of Winslow

It's been one week since Winslow stepped off of Pam's trailer and into my life.

I have spent those seven days getting to know him both in...
and out of the saddle.
It's going well.
At first, I didn't know how I was going to feel about seeing Winslow's face looking over Olive's stall door.
Fortunately, that's been a nonissue. Occupied is infinitely better than empty. Plus, he's so darn cute. Who wouldn't be happy to be greeted like this each morning?
It probably helps that aside from being the same general size and shape as Olive, Winslow is about as different from Olive as two mustangs could be.
This boy is chill.
Nothing bothers him.
Not the golf cart.
not the tractor,
not even the Nutmeg adjacent corner of the indoor.
He's also extremely friendly, both to humans...
and other horses.
Winslow and Kaffi are in the early stages of a fine bromance, and I am here for it.
As far as riding goes, that is a work in progress. Winslow is very broke and feels safe and solid. At the same time, he's lacking polish. We're working on that.
But probably not in the upcoming week. The forecast for Winslow Week Two is very cold. It's the kind of weather most horse people complain about, but not me, not this time. I am so happy to have a horse to care for again. I am so happy to have a little Winslow in my life.

  2. I love the shadow with the tassels (and the one above, showing its source. Tack!). Not only is it art, it shows he's chill and that his rider is documenting everything in interesting ways,... again.

  8. I'm totally reading all your blog posts about him now because it just makes my heart so full knowing he's loved and thriving! I remember when Pam came to meet him; there was an instant connection, and any worries I had about rehoming him fell away. I knew he and Pam would be so happy together.
