When Winslow arrived I told Pam she didn't need to leave a halter with him. His head is similar in size to Olive's, and Olive had... many halters.
We started with the rope halter, but that only lasted a day or two. Winslow didn't need its sharpness, and besides, olive green is not his color.
After that, I switched him to the LeMieux Vogue halter AKA Olive's Princess Halter. He actually looked really cute in this. Still, I felt we could do better.
I contacted my friend, Rachel Fail, and asked her if she could make something specifically for him. As inspiration, I sent her these photos of Winslow's bridle...
with its beautiful alpaca reins.
This is what she made.
I love this so much.Winslow looked cute in the Princess Halter, but this is definitely more his style.
Thank you so much, Rachel, and a shoutout to Teresa for helping me with these photos.
If you would like to see more of Rachel's work, visit her website and Etsy shop. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Are alpaca fiber reins common? I own a couple alpaca fiber items (not tack) and can imagine they would have an amazing feel
ReplyDeleteThey are pricey, and as such, you don't see them very often at a barn like mine. They're more of a niche item, for people who value high quality, handmade gear. And yes, they have an amazing feel!
DeleteI cannot get enough of this guy's face! He's adorable in the winter fluff but I imagine he'll be drop-dead gorgeous in the summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous gift. He looks just super in it. Copper and blue are perfect for him.
