NaMoPaiMo showcase: Twyla Wehnes

Olive was the most beautiful shade of chestnut.

I loved her how her color changed with the light - bright red in the sun, liver in the shade - and those dapples!
Sigh. She was perfect.
I miss her so much.
This year, Canadian artist, Twyla Wehnes, decided to paint her NaMoPaiMo horse "Olive chestnut." This is not a portrait - obviously, the base model is a completely different type - but the color is all O.
Twyla writes: This year, I challenged myself to paint a model "Olive chestnut" using acrylic and pastels. I struggled with this method. It took more layers than I expected.
I think I reached my goal of Olive's colour. Well, depending on which photo you look at, and which lighting my model is in. I did not try to copy her marking exactly. Just did similar.
Overall I’m pretty happy with her, and I want to try this method again. Like right now. Where’s my primer…?
Congratulations, Twyla! I absolutely love Olive's not-quite-portrait. You did a great job capturing a hard color, and I hope you actually do try this method again. You are a winner!
