NaMoPaiMo showcase: Stephanie Blaylock

As of approximately ten minutes ago, there are just over one hundred horses in the NaMoPaiMo Winners Circle.
They are all exceptional, and I would love to highlight each and every one of them. Sadly, time and energy being what it is, I'm going to have to pick and choose. This year's first NaMoPaiMo Showcase model is long time NaMoPaiMo mentor, Stephanie Blaylock's gorgeous venti scale Dust Devil resin sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig.
Stephanie writes: My goals for this year were to paint a complicated color with just enough interest to not make it a ten year project. There’s a lot of hair by hair, but not the whole thing. It’s a lot of layering of color.
And… I’d like to make a NaMoPaiMo point…. There’s a whole lot of raw umber in there!
This horse had dramatic hair and I wanted to work on my hair skills, with low lights and highlights all achieved with acrylic washes.
And mostly I wanted to be able to walk away when photos seem to say he is finished. I have a serious problem not knowing when to finish a project.
So… here he is “Dust in the Wind” named for the 1978 Kansas song.
Congratulations, Stephanie. Even by your standards, this guy is exceptional. Thank you for everything. You are a winner!
