One of my absolute favorite hobby Halloween traditions is Franceyn Dare's Halloweenies weirdlings sale. Here are this year's offerings.
First up is "MOONSTONE". Franceyn writes: This lovely lilac lady is one of my 3D glitter inset ponies, with the shaded colourshifting glitters depicting the moon. Across the moon on one side flies a witch with her faithful little kitty on the front of her broom, on the other side we have the classic headless horseman on his rearing steed.
She's beautifully done, not weird.
The same can be said for "LIGHTNING".
Here's how Franceyn describes this one: This little guy has been created with colourshifting metallic paints to create a galaxy effect that changes as you move it in the light. His lightning flashes streak across his body. He is finished is super high gloss which shines like porcelain in hand.
Onto "CANDI"!
This is one of Franceyn's Sugar Lolly style ponies. Her body has an orange/gold reflecting sparkle, and she features candy corn colours with cute little designs including webs and bitty spiders.
Continuing in the theme of amazing-but-not-really-weird, we arrive at "ARACHNIDA".
Here's Franceyn's description: Arachnida is a beautiful super glossy Belgian with a new plaited mane who features hand crafted gem backed spiders who hang elegantly from golden chains wrapped around her body, The spiders feature teal holographic legs which create a lovely contrast to her dark blue and black shiny body.
Next up is "THE RATALOOSA".
This cute guy is "gravestone grey" with rat shaped spots. As a rat lover, I definitely approve!
I am also a dog lover, so I am also a fan of this year's one non-equine offering, "FRANKENPUP".
Franceyn writes: Frankenpup features little silver bolts through his neck and little odd patches across his body. His finish made to resemble fabric, the tear in his leg area reveals some holographic magic from within.
She adds: Is that even his original head? Who knows? And just like that, things are getting weirder. Here's "ANTSY".
The official description reads: This cute little palomino features a draped plaid picnic blanket draped over her back end, and it seems that blanket comes with it's own special set of picnic ants who are wending their way around her body, in anticipation of the picnic foods to come! The little ants on this adorable Halloweenie are 3D and their little butt sections are made of teeny black rhinestones.
This is so cute and so creative. I love it!Speaking of creative... Here's "FANG".
Franceyn writes: This girl is truly a one of a kind piece. Her Monster mouth actually opens up to reveal a set of spooky, spikey lover teeth and tongue and a super detailed roof of her mouth. Her four little beady eyes and her fangs, along with the inside of her mouth have been finished in super high gloss to make them appear wet.
So creepy, so amazing!
Finally, here's this year's pièce de résistance,"WAIT, WUT".
At first glance this little fellow seems like just a nice little chestnut dressage type pony, but then when you look again wait, wut?
Yes this chap has been created by chopping a stablemate in half through his mid section and then piecing him back together.
I will confess that it took soooo much more sculpting and remaking than I had thought, because I wanted it to look somewhat believable and for the pieces to flow together however wrongly they were put together.
I know I say this every year, but Franceyn, you have outdone yourself. I love this, I hate this, I love this. Isn't that how weirdlings are supposed to make you feel?
Purchase information for all of this year's Halloweenies can be found on the Dare Horses Facebook page. Congratulations, Franceyn, on another amazing group of models. I can't wait to see what you do next year!

Oh man, I want to see the inside of Fang’s mouth!! Such awesome creativity.
ReplyDeleteI want to see that tooooo
DeleteUpdate: I have seen it. There's a video of Franceyn opening Fang's mouth on the Dare Horses Facebook page (link in post)
DeleteI watched it. That is insanely creepy cool! If I saw a horse like that in real life, I would hightail it out of there.
DeleteWait, Wut made me do a double take. Such seamless sculpting!
