Almost from the moment he became a daddy, Seth has been Fun Daddy.
Rule enforcement was my job.
It wasn't actually a job I wanted, but somebody had to do it, and clearly, that wasn't going to be Fun Daddy.
By the way, it's like this with the dogs, too.
You can see that dynamic at work in these photos from last Sunday's barn party. Here I am telling Piper, "No pizza."
But as soon as my back is turned... well, Fun Daddy strikes again. After the costume contest, I handed Olive's reins to Seth so I could take photos of the winners.
Immediately, she started leading him to the patch of greenery growing around the arena gate.
"Don't let her eat," I said. "Take her through the noodles."
He did that one time. Then he and Olive walked out of the ring and disappeared.
When I caught up with them, this is what I found.
Fun Daddy strikes again.
Honestly, though, Olive earned that one. She was a really good girl all day, and I don't begrudge her a little bit of unauthorized grazing. I just wanted to be the one to give it to her!

Hahaha! Now--who wouldn't think that the photos and text aren't the cutest??!!
ReplyDeleteWhy?? What ever do you mean, Jennifer??!! Everyone knows that mommies are supposed to be the "mommi-nators" and rule enforcers!! Says so right there in the "mommies and daddies" handbook!!(unless--of course, you were raised in the military like I was!! (That's a different kinda re-enforcement right there!! Yikes!!)
Sooo-Seth--Don't let her scold you too much!! Heehee!! You could always say that you had your eyes on everybody!
By the way, Olive looks really good in orange!
Hahaha... I have the same dynamic in my relationship.
ReplyDeleteExtremely. To be honest, I'm tired of it. Sometimes it might be funny. But with animals it's really hard when one thing is forbidden and allowed at the same time. Clear rules are much easier for them to understand.
