Several people have weighed in with helpful advice. I know that's well intended, but also, y'all are funny. I've been doing this a long time. Trust me, I know all the work arounds.
For example, I am aware that I could cut the browband into two pieces and sticky wax the parts onto Olive's head to make it look like they are going under the forelock.
That is a tried and true performance shower trick that I have done many, many times.
But here's the thing. That's a really nice browband. I don't own nearly as much tack as I used to, and I don't particularly feel like destroying this bridle for a one time use.

Of course, there are other ways to tackle this issue.

Although it feels a little bit like a cop-out, I am far more inclined to set up Olive bridleless than I am to cut that browband.
But what will I actually do on show day? I still don't know.

Ok, so as a collector, not a model horse shower but a former real horse shower, I tried to offer a solution that seemed simple enough to me. I get you not wanting to cut up that bridle, I also know there are other makers of model tack out there. Could you buy a bridle to cut up so you don't have to cut that one? A lot of training and effort need to go into showing a real horse bridleless but it feels like the complete opposite to show a model horse that way.
ReplyDeleteI mean, she clearly says she wants to find something better than doing a cut/split browband, so suggesting she spend money to go buy another bridle (especially being a tackmaker herself) isn't really a productive solution either as she's already said she doesn't want to do that...
DeleteI completely agree with you. As one of the hobbies more premier tack maker you definitely know the roundabouts of tack and model horse showing. I can only hope I can purchase one of your saddles and bridles-and a StudioMarie saddle pad-one day. I figured you might have thought up the ideas I put out last post, but I hoped it would inspire more ideas. I'm sure you will do wonderfully, but here's some good luck for you: GOOD LUCK, TEAM OLIVE!
